Construction Planning Training: Organizing, Coordinating, and Overseeing the Execution of Work

The Scheduling, Management, and Coordination training program is designed for professionals who wish to learn or improve their skills in monitoring and coordinating work on a building and civil engineering construction site.

Over the course of two days, you will learn how to structure your project’s schedule, organize the work of the various stakeholders, and coordinate the work to meet the project’s deadlines.

The OPC role involves overseeing the entire construction site in collaboration with the project manager and the various contractors. It enables you to structure the planning, manage interfaces between contractors, and monitor the progress of the work to minimize schedule delays.

Formation OPC (Ordonnancement, Pilotage, Coordination) – formation en présentiel et à distance pour maîtriser la mission OPC. OPC Training (Scheduling, Steering, Coordination) – in-person and remote training to master the OPC mission.

Main Objectives of Planning Training

Structure Construction Scheduling and Site Planning

Identify scheduling and sequencing methods and structure the construction work programme. Break down activities, develop a logic network and establish the schedules required for effective project control.

Understand the Scope and Responsibilities of the OPC Role

Identify the roles and responsibilities of OPC (Scheduling, Project Control and Coordination) throughout each project phase: design, procurement, site preparation, construction, pre-handover inspections and handover of the works.

Lead Scheduling, Project Control and Coordination Meetings

Prepare and lead OPC meetings with the various project stakeholders. Track actions, coordinate interfaces and support project teams in maintaining the construction schedule.

Control Execution and Monitor Work Progress

Monitor site progress, analyse variances between planned and actual progress, and identify corrective actions. Update the schedule and anticipate potential impacts on project deadlines.

Assess Resources and Organise the Handover of the Works

Assess the workload and resources required for the OPC role. Organise and monitor pre-handover inspections (OPR) through to the handover of the works, in coordination with the various project stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes of the OPC training

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the training, participants will be able to structure a construction project schedule, organise work sequencing, coordinate project stakeholders and monitor the progress of a construction project.

Audience

This training is intended for owners, project managers, planners, construction managers, and OPC professionals involved in the organisation, monitoring and coordination of construction works.

Prerequisites

No prior knowledge is required. This training is particularly suited to professionals working in the building and civil engineering sectors.

Teaching Methods Employed

The training combines theoretical input, practical exercises, role plays and interactive discussions. Participants work on practical case studies to apply planning, scheduling, coordination and project control methods.

Educational Materials

Each participant is provided with a PC equipped with project scheduling software, such as MS Project or Primavera P6. The training includes theoretical materials, practical exercises and a case study based on a construction project.

Our Trainers

The training is delivered by construction industry experts with hands-on experience in construction projects and extensive teaching experience.
